Our Pet Friendly Holiday Cottages
Mousehole and Swallows Nest Cottages each sleep 4 (2 dogs max in each)
Mousehole and Swallows Nest Cottages were converted in 2007/08 from the traditionally built sandstone barn in our courtyard. Renovated with pets owners in mind, each cottage has a large open-plan kitchen/dining/sitting room with tiled floor. Upstairs are two bedrooms - one double, one twin and a good-sized shower room with wash-hand basin and wc.
Both cottages are warm and cosy in the winter, with full double glazing and calor gas central heating, and cool in the summer due to the thick original stone walls.
Each has its own spacious individual cottage style garden with high secure fences.
Appletree Corner (sleeps 2) is a ground floor extension of the farmhouse, across the courtyard from the cottages. It is a light and airy modern apartment with open-plan kitchen and sitting room. One double bedroom with en-suite (bath with shower over, wash-hand basin and wc) and a large sitting/dining conservatory with open views across the fields towards Armathwaite and beyond.
Windows and doors are double glazed and electric storage heaters make the apartment a cosy hideaway in winter. The conservatory opens out onto a ramp and a small garden. There are no steps and the apartment is particularly suitable for those requiring easy-walking access. Sorry we don't take pets in this accommodation but can arrange on-site accommodation if required.
The kitchens are well-equipped and provide all the comforts of home. These include electric cookers (with gas hobs in the cottages), microwave, fridge and freezer, washing machine, toaster, hand and tea towels. Bedrooms have linen and towels provided.
Sitting areas have rugs over the tiled floors, comfy suites and electric wood burning effect stoves, TV/DVD (some have video), radio and CD players. We also have lots of books, games, videos and dvds if you just want to put your feet up and relax.
Both Mousehole and Swallows Nest have stair gates at the top and bottom of the stairs. A high chair and travelling cot can be provided on request.
Apple Tree Corner
All on one level, the cosy apartment comprises of an entrance porch leading into an open plan lounge/kitchen area. Large furnished dining room / conservatory. Double Bedroom. Bathroom with power shower over bath. Apple Tree Corner sleeps 2 and has wheelchair access.
