Pet Friendly Holiday Cottages in the heart of Cumbria
Situated next to a working dairy farm and originally a thriving small-holding, Coombs View was built during the 17th Century. Constructed of traditional, local red sandstone, it has seen many changes over the years - becoming a joiner's shop, a hostelry, surviving a fire in the 1950s, then falling into decline and neglect as a grain store.
It has now been rebuilt and is once again a working small-holding with the emphasis on pets and their owners.
The original horse stalls and hay barn have been converted into two cosy characterful semi-detached cottages. Each cottage has a well-fenced secure garden to give you peace of mind for your pets.
An apartment extension to the farmhouse provides modern comfortable accommodation with tranquil views across open fields to the Pennines for those who prefer to be pet-free.
A mile and a half to the nearby village of Armathwaite on the River Eden, there are two excellent dining pubs (both of which welcome well-behaved dogs in the bar), a village Post Office/General Store and some wonderful walks, not least along The Eden Gorge between Armathwaite and Lazonby - one of Cumbria's best kept secrets and well worth exploring on water or on foot.
